As part of a broad initiative to modernize several of their properties in Washington, DC, the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) recently retained an A/E design team to study and develop Basis of Design concept reports for each building. Phase Shift Consulting was invited to work in collaboration with the project architect, as well as FRB’s staff in a two-part process involving the development of the Basis of Design reports and the development of new workplace strategy and design standards. These two initiatives would shape the Telecom, Audiovisual, and Security design process for these and future design projects. The key objective of these tasks was to capture the established technology design standards for FRB and ensure these standards were represented within the context of an approach to modernize the buildings’ historic architecture.
